Celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin and her husband, photographer Mike Rosenthal, have put their five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bathroom Los Angeles home on the market for $4.195 million. The couple and their two dogs have called the dwelling home for over two years, and in November, they opened its doors to AD. Built by Obermeyer Architecture and decorated by Maison Trouvaille, the house embraces minimalism and a neutral color palette from top to bottom. “Our lives are so hectic and busy that I wanted home to just feel completely calm and peaceful,” Atkin previously told AD.
It’s unclear if the couple are willing to part with their many pieces of cream-colored furniture—including a sitting room settee and living room chair from Community Manufacturing, Black Rooster Decor dining room chairs, and Rouse Home chairs in an upstairs area they call the “chill zone.” Either way, the new owner will be inheriting some elements of their serene style. For example, when they moved in, Atkin and Rosenthal swapped the existing chrome fixtures for black matte ones from Brizo (“It was too much shine,” Atkin said), and the kitchen is an airy, open affair with light wood cabinetry and light gray marble countertops.
Other amenities at the 4,928-square-foot home include a front courtyard, a small garden off the living room, a large second-floor terrace, and a backyard plunge pool and spa. It’s unclear where the couple—who count A-listers like Chrissy Teigen and John Legend and the Kardashians among their pals—are headed next, but Atkin did tell AD there’s one thing that could convince her to brighten up her muted interior style in the future: kids. “Then it’ll look like a McDonald’s PlayPlace.”
