Debuting on Saturday, January 16th, 2021 at Haven Gallery in Northport, New York is People’s Printshop artist Brian Mashburn’s solo exhibition, “New Landscapes.”

Brian says of the new body of work: “‘New Landscapes’ is a collection of 16 new oil paintings.  I began work on the show in the summer of 2020, aware that the paintings were to be exhibited in January 2021.  Normally this sort of looking ahead to a show’s opening date is only of passing concern.  Occasionally there will be an election or some other event that may in some small way inform the work, however last summer it was painfully clear that the world of January 2021 was likely to be an exceptionally unfamiliar place.  With that in mind, calling the show “New Landscapes” seemed appropriate.

Several of the new paintings incorporate imagery and approaches not common in my prior work.  The pandemic hindered a number of things regarding my ability to gather reference and overall process and like everyone else in the world I was compelled to adapt.  Fortunately this sort of thing often aids creative practice – exploring new and different approaches to some of the landscapes turned out to be both practical and on theme.”
